The Girl Without Hands: Her mother had a guilt that Cleidy born without hands, when she was three years old, her mother abandoned her, also she never knew her father.
But, Cleidy has a divine grandmother, Victalina, who took her in, and arranged a support for the child through the Christian ministry Compassion International (CI).
“I was sad about what my daughter thought of Cleidy and how she felt,”
Victalina said to CI. “I knew it would be difficult to look after her because of her special needs. But, I have a faith in God,” she said.
Jamin is a tutor of Cleidy who taught her to write at the center in Guatemala which supported by CI.
“I treat Cleidy just like the other girls at the Compassion center,” Jamin says. “I truly believe that she has the same potential and resources that they have. This is why I taught her how to write with a pencil. She learned it very quickly!”
Cleidy made such incredible progress that she moved to local public school from her special needs school.
“While Cleidy had no resources to support her supplementary needs, I understood that it was a big challenge and that she was treatmented like a child without limitations.
Still, I believed it was a good idea because she is an exceptional girl.”
Cleidy recently wrote this in an Essay:
I’m grateful this way,
I was born very healthy, weighing 8 pounds, at 7 p.m. I was born without my hands, but I can do everything. I feel great because I am a person, the same as others. God made me this way, and I learned how to use my forearms instead of hands.
Here are four things I have learned from my hand-less life:
- I know God is great because He made us all equal.
God helped me to develop my abilities and my studies. I am the number one student in my class, and I am always the flag bearer. My friends have told me that they would like to have my learning abilities.
- I have learned that if somebody disrespects me, I shouldn’t pay attention to it.
I have good relationships with my friends. They respect me and treat me with love if someone does disrespect me.
- During my life, I have learned that there are no limits.
God always supports me to make progress so, I can do anything I want.
- With my abilities, I shouldn’t give up, but strive day by day.
I want to show the world that if I can do it, then they can learn to be happy forever too.
Cleidy has a circle of friends at the school who attend her church and a few connected with the Compassion center.
“I love my friends!” Cleidy told CI. “They are very helpful to me if I need anything. If I need a pencil, someone will give it to me. Or if I need extra help at home, someone helps me.”
“My life has previously been tragic, but I am happy because of the love of my friends in the Center, my Grandma and God.”
Cleidy has a bright future with the help of Jesus and loving people around her.
“I want to help children with needs like I have and promote them not to feel alone,” Cleidy said. “Even if they are like me, without parents, God always will be there for them.”
